How to Reach Pench
Reaching Pench National Park is quite simple. The nearest airport is located in Nagpur, which is approximately 90 km from the park. From there, visitors can either take a taxi or hire a private car to reach the park. Another option is to take a train to Nagpur and then hire a taxi or car to reach the park.
For those traveling from Mumbai, there are several options available. One option is to take a flight to Nagpur and then proceed to the park. Another option is to take a train to Nagpur and then hire a taxi or car to reach the park.
I opted for a Nagpur Duronto Express which leave at 8:15 pm from CST Mumbai and drop you by 7:15 am to Nagpur. This is the best option as you can plan your day/work and spend the night on the train. The journey takes up to 10 hours and the cost would be 720-850 sleeper and 1200-1400 three tier AC.
If you opt for a flight to Nagpur is yet another faster option as compared to train. But make sure to book in advance so it can be pocket friendly. The round fare from Mumbai to Nagpur would be roughly around 6.5k to 8k per person.
Once you reach Nagpur station/airport you will have to rent or book a cab to reach Pench National park, the to and for journey in a sedan would cost you roughly around 5-6k which would easily fit 4 people. It will hardly take 2 hours for you to reach the Khawasa Gateway (Turia gate) which is 95 km from Nagpur.

Sundowner Experience
I would strongly recommend to do this experience, it starts with…
– A short drive to the lake. On the way you will learn many things about the locals, wildlife, birds and more.
– A speedboat ride to the small isolated island on the lake
– the setup is done by the team, for you to enjoy the peace and sip on your hot tea/coffee and enjoy the high tea
– you can spend quality time here, as the sunsets the setup is changed and well lit with the lights
– a most romantic thing to do I would suggest if you are a couple
The cost for this is 5k for a couple (the high tea will include a variety of snacks which are worth trying). Make sure to book your experience on the day 1 of check in so the slot is booked under your name.
Bush/ Jungle Walking Safari
Take a step into the wild with a walking safari in Pench! Another great experience to not miss, an evening walking trail through the Turia gate in buffer zone right next to the core zone area. Learn about the flora and fauna, bird species, and wildlife while you walk along with a guided ranger by your side.
The cost starts from 350-400 Rs. depending on the trek route and guide cost will be 600-480 RS., with timings starting in the morning 07:00 am to 10:00 am and evening 14:00 pm to 18:00 pm.
Don’t forget to bring your binoculars, camera, and a sense of adventure. Book now for a walk on the wild side of the buffer zone. You can choose your trail from any nearby gate, be it turia or rukhad or any other.
The walking trail is 2.5 to 5kms long through the buffer forests, and it would roughly take about 2-3 hours to finish the trail. If you opt for a half day trekking safari than the trek will be moderate and the distance would be 5kms with the duration about 4 hours.
Please note you will have to plan your drop and pick up from the date to your resort, this can easily be managed by your Pench national park resorts.
We had booked our experience with @penchjunglecamp which took care of our entry fees, guide and pick up and drop. This would cost you 1500 pp.
Safari Experience
Pench National Park is a wildlife reserve located in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is named after the Pench River that flows through the park and is known for its population of tigers and other wild animals.
Safari is a tour or excursion for observation of wildlife and scenic areas. In Pench, there are two types of safaris – private or sharing jeep safari.
To book a safari, you can visit the official website of Madhya Pradesh Tourism or contact a local tour operator. Booking in advance is recommended, especially during peak tourist season (October to June). Book at least 20 days in advance.
There are three gates to enter core zone of Pench National Park – Turia, Karmajhiri, and Jhamtara. Turia is the most popular one.
Safaris are usually conducted in batches to manage the number of visitors and minimize disturbance to the wildlife. The total number of 75 jeeps are allowed for morning and evening batches and the price of safari vary depending on the season and type of safari. On average, a sharing jeep safari costs around INR 2000-2300 per person. But if you wish to indulge in some with breakfast or high tea you can splurge a little more and book a private safari for better experience. This would cost you 9k.

You can book a Rukhad Jungle Safari through a local tour operator or directly with the forest department. It is advisable to book in advance, especially during peak season.
We booked via @rukhadjunglecamp and the cost is INR 7,500 per Jeep per safari Above safari charges include all charges related to safari i.e. park entry charges, park guide fees, jeep charges and all taxes.
While on the safari, follow the guidelines of the forest department and listen to the instructions of the guide. Avoid making noise and disturbing the wildlife. You can also participate in bird-watching and nature walks, take pictures and observe the unique flora and fauna of the jungle.
Food
Both of these Pench national park resorts offer delicious food, with a range of options available to suit different tastes and preferences. The daily breakfast offers buffet, à la carte or continental options. At the lodge you will find a restaurant serving Asian and international cuisine. Vegetarian, vegan and dairy-free options can also be requested.
As the property is located amidst the jungle in buffer zone, the actual reception and restaurant is located at a 5-8 mins drive from the actual property. You can either decide to eat in the room or plan a pick up from your room to the restaurant. We had our dinner and breakfast in our room, and it was exceptional right from the cutlery to tissue everything was taken care of by the staff.
