Leh an enchanting paradise in India
Leh an enchanting paradise in India
Leh, an enchanting paradise in India with an altitude of 13,000 ft. above sea level and breathtaking beauty in the mountains covered with snow. Leh is a great place to discover the rich culture of Tibetans and Kashmiris, with mouth watering authentic dishes and warm places to stay in their beautifully handcrafted wooden craving interiors. There is a lot to explore from local city tour to the world’s highest motor-able road to scenic valleys till palaces across Leh. It’s truly a joy to see a part of heaven while you are alive. The best season to travel Leh is from April-August, because that’s the time when the temperature is not too high and bearable, after September until October the tourist crowd is less as the temperature falls till 2 to -4 degree Celsius, and it gets difficult to move around with this freezing climate. From mid-October the Leh gets quieter (Off Season), all the hotels and spots are shut.
If you are really adventurous and can bare cold you can visit the shoulder season which starts from Mid-September till mid-October at this time you may be lucky to see fresh snow and also might experience snowfall but most of the city is shut, as they migrate to Goa in order to run their business there. Apart from all this from October to March all the routes to Leh via roads are shut because of snow, and the cold climate is unbearable.
Well, the funny part is, there are no fans in Leh…can you believe that? So you can imagine even during the normal season the place is cold enough that you don’t need fans. But yes at times it does happen tourist ends up asking why there no fans, during June or July season.
My visit to Leh was a great experience, as I happened to visit during off season; I guess it was from 29Sept till 9Oct. But truly speaking it was a real good trip where I ended up eating every hour because of the cold temperature (-2 degree Celsius) and real fast digestion taking place. It’s always good to travel to Leh with a good number of friend or family, but it’s also happening for couples too.
My journey began with a layover in Delhi, had no other option as there are no direct flights to Leh, and also all flights to Leh starts around 7 till 11 in the morning, after that the climate is not suitable for the plane to travel in those air. Also just for your knowledge, there are only a few airlines that operate to Leh two of them being Jet Airways and Air India. But once you get in from Delhi, you can capture the most amazing view from the plane of Himalaya to Manali to Shimla till Leh.

We had booked our travel plan through Travel Triangle with the travel company name: Shoe on Loose. At that time we got 2000 off through travel triangle – as it was their promotional offer, it was a great deal for us. Had booked the plane tickets well in advance which cost me around 12k per person and the travel itinerary was around 16k per person, the total cost summed up to 28k per person the only thing which was not included in this was lunch, entry tickets and your shopping rest everything was inclusive. The best part is if you plan a group trip the itinerary plan will cost you around 10-12k per person, depending on the number of people. So you can plan your trip accordingly, it is always best to go with a group of friends or family.
